Meet the Prof Night

Hi MBSAers,

I just wanted to remind everyone that tomorrow is the MBSA's 5th Annual Meet The Prof Night!!!

This is a great opportunity for you to learn about some of the vast research that happens at the U of A. We have profs from Biological Sciences, Cell Biology, Medical Genetics and Oncology attending! So if your looking for Biol 299, 39X or 49X research projects, summer jobs or graduate studies you won't want to miss this night!

Also, not only will there be professors there, but there will also be free pizza and refreshments!! As a reminder, the event is at 5pm in the Biosci/CCIS foyer.

We hope to see you there!

Date/Time Changes!

Greetings everyone!

I have a couple important announcements regarding our Meet and Greet event, and our Meet the Prof. event.

There are date changes for both events.

Our Meet and Greet event will be on November 8th, at 5:00 PM, in room BS M 141. There will be FREE pizza, refreshments, games, and probably an abundance of biological science geeks.

Or Meet the Prof. event will be on November 14th, at 5:00 PM, in the CCIS/BioSci foyer. This is a great event to network with professors, line up potential research projects, and get yourself out there! Professors aren't nearly as scary as they seem. There will be FREE pizza and FREE refreshments!

Hope to see a good turnout at both events!

Sincerely,

Cole MacIver
MBSA President

Greetings once again everyone!

Your loveable VP of Academics here to share with you all some fantastic news. We have finalized the dates for both the MBSA Meet and Greet as well as the Annual Meet the Prof Night.

The MBSA will be hosting a Meet and Greet, where you can come hang out with the MBSA executive, learn more about the club and what we do on November 1st at 5pm in M-141 of the Biological Sciences Building (Right below the Second Cup). All the executives will be on hand and we will have lots of fun games and activities and most importantly pizza and pop will be provided.

Now onto the main event,

The Meet The Prof Night will be hosted on November 7th at 5pm in the Biological Sciences Foyer (Right in front of Second Cup this time). This is a great opportunity to network with professors from almost every department connected to molecular biology. Check out the current state of research of the University of Alberta and get a chance to talk one on one with lots of professors  Pizza and Pop will be provided for everyone who attends.

I hope to see everyone at these events, its a great chance to meet up with fellow students, profs and get some tasty dinner.

See you there!

We're Alive!

Hello fellow readers,

This may be late since we're already halfway through the first semester but the MBSA is alive and running. We're currently organizing ourselves and finalizing some details within the VPs but just as an update to those passing by:
  1. We are tentatively planning our Meet the Prof night as per usual, aiming for the last week of October/first week of November tentatively. This is a great chance to meet professors about future research opportunities and of course get free pizza and drinks supplied by us. Keep an eye out for posters, e-mails, and future updates on this blog for the finalized dates for this event.
  2. We're also going to have a social event the week before. In the midst of all the crazy midterms you'll be writing, come out and unwind and rant about school. Plus it'll be a good time to actually meet your peers face to face outside those lecture halls.
  3. While we are organizing ourselves, if you want to be kept up to date on future news send an e-mail to mbsa@ualberta.ca . We're always looking for suggestions for future social events, and/or study groups.
This is your VP Internal of the MBSA signing out,

Dan Phan
