Nov 1 weekly update.

Hey everyone!

Thanks to everybody that came out to the Meet the Prof Night last week! It was a raging success!

This is just a quick email to welcome some new members (Welcome!) and update everyone.

1) T-shirts. Keep it simple, make it funny. We would actually like to get this happening as soon as possible, but we NEED your feedback and ideas. Send in any ideas you think might make a funny shirt!

2) Study Groups. We're in the eye of the midterm storm right now and the best way to learn the material is to study with others. That said, send in a request if you want to study with other members in the same classes and we'll help you get in touch with each other.

3) Movie Night. After using your brains all week, why not turn them off for a bit with a good (bad) movie? We want to have a movie night here in bio-sci this Thursday (the 4th) tentatively planned around 5pm, pending availability of everyone. We'll supply the popcorn and the movie - all you need to do is show up and enjoy yourself! Please RSVP as soon as you read this. (even if you are not sure you can make it, please get back to us and we might be able to accommodate you!)

4) Website. Check it out, love it, even make it your homepage (We don't know why you would do that, but shameless self promotion is what we're awesome for) Click Here!

PS. RSVP right NOW for the movie night. RAWR.

New stuff for the week of Oct 25

Hello fellow MBSA members,

It's a big week this week, were hosting our annual meet the proof night this Thursday (Oct 28) at 5pm in the BioSci/CCIS foyer. Come meet professors from many areas in Biological Sciences and Medical Genetics, find out about the current work there doing, and hear about research opportunities in their labs. We will be providing free pizza and refreshments for everyone attending so no one should go hungry.

We would also like anyone wishing to attend to email us at mbsa@ualberta.ca and RSVP so we know how many people to expect.

Lastly we could use a handful of volunteers to help us setup so if you’re willing, please email us and let us know if you can help with setting up and cleaning up afterwards.

Sincerely,

MBSA

Whats new for the week of (Oct 11)

Here is a little update on upcoming events and plans:

1) Meet the prof night has moved!
Due to some scheduling issues we will no longer be holding it on the 21st of October.
We now plan to have it on the 28th of October at 5pm, (location TBA)

2)T-shirts!
We're looking for some good ideas, a few have been thrown around, (Model Organism, Got Taq, etc...)
Our plan is to have t-shirts going by the end of November, so let out your inner artist and get some ideas sent in asap!!

3)Movie Night
There are a few movies based around Genetics, and well...you should see them.
E-mail us with what week in November is most free for you and which days/times are best, and we'll try accommodate everyone.

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving,

Weekly update for Oct 4 to 8

Here's a quick update on what's happening this week.

1) Our first general meeting will be held this Wednesday (Oct 6) at 3:30pm in the Bio-Sci cafeteria. It will give us a chance to meet everyone, chat, and for all of you to voice your opinions about what you would like to gain from joining MBSA. We'll try to keep it short and sweet because we know everyone is busy. For those that want to stick around after, there will be a couple of us doing study groups for some of the GENET courses.

2) We are meeting with professors this Tuesday to discuss setting the date for Meet the Prof night. More news to come next week!

If you have any questions or suggestions please email us at mbsa@ualberta.ca

Have a good week everyone!
